Is Brazil only an export market, or also a production partner?

It plays both roles: it is an important destination and a source of supplies. That is why it helps to look at the whole chain, rather than trade in just one direction.
01 · EXPORTS AND SUPPLIES

Brazil is both an export destination and a supplier

From January to July 2026, Brazil received USD 1,995.1 million of Paraguay's registered exports, or 25.3% of the total. For registered imports, Brazil supplied USD 2,391.9 million, or 21.3%.

These are different statistical groups and should not be subtracted from one another. For a business, the important task is to design sourcing, production and the final market as a single supply chain.

How to read the figures: registered exports and registered imports have different denominators.
02 · MANUFACTURING FOR EXPORT

The connection with Brazil is even clearer in maquila

From January to July 2026, maquila exports reached USD 858.7 million, an increase of 32.1% from a year earlier. Brazil accounted for 61.4% of export destinations.

That 61.4% applies exclusively to maquila export destinations, not to all Paraguayan exports. The regime is one part of a production model, not an automatic guarantee of customers or profitability.
